Take the Golden Gate Transit bus #70 or #71 from the Financial District to the Mill Valley stop, then transfer to the Muir Woods Shuttle ($3 round trip). The shuttle runs every 20–30 minutes on weekdays and every 30–60 minutes on weekends, and it takes about 15 minutes to reach Muir Woods.

The Different Trails in Muir Woods

The Sun Trail

This is the shortest of the main trails in Muir Woods, but it is also one of the steepest and most challenging. The trail climbs over 400 feet in just 1 mile up to a ridgeline at the top of Mt. Tamalpais. Although this trail does not lead to a lookout point, it offers great views from the ridgeline, including Mt. Tamalpais and San Francisco on a clear day.
